Seal of the State of Nevada

WHEREAS, the great State of Nevada is proud to honor the 6.4 million living Vietnam veterans who served our country in one of the longest conflicts in which the United States has ever been involved; and

WHEREAS, we focus our thoughts and prayers on the families of more than 58,000 individuals who served our country and never made it home, and we pay tribute to the 149 Nevadans we lost in Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, we give thanks to those who were held as a prisoner of war or listed as missing in action, for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States; and

WHEREAS, in 2007, legislation was signed into law authorizing the, ‘50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War’, a commemoration spanning 13 years, ending on Veterans Day, November 11, 2025, as the Vietnam War spanned several decades; and

WHEREAS, legislation was signed into law in 2017 declaring March 29 as a national day of honor for Vietnam War veterans; and

WHEREAS, we see Vietnam veterans in our daily lives, as parents, grandparents, friends and members of our communities, and today, let us seek them out to express our deepest gratitude for what they sacrificed for our freedom and that of South Vietnam;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim March 29, 2019, as
