WHEREAS, Tai Chi and Qigong Day is celebrated in more than 80 nations annually, on the last Saturday of the month in April; and

WHEREAS, the ancient Chinese practices of Tai Chi and Qigong combine a series of mindful relaxed movements, meditation, and breathing exercises found to have health benefits for people of all ages and fitness levels; and

WHEREAS, for all who practice the art, Tai Chi and Qigong are respected as disciplines responsible for building inner fortitude, while toning muscles and increasing flexibility, and

WHEREAS, Tai Chi and Qigong can boost immune strength, emphasizing the importance of balance, posture, breathing and concentration; and

WHEREAS, Tai Chi and Qigong Day is an opportunity to bring practitioners together and allow people to learn more about the benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong through this day of celebration and practice;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim April 27, 2019, as

Tai Chi and Qigong Day in Nevada
