WHEREAS, physical therapy is an independent allied medical profession that encompasses specialized competence with the primary purpose of promoting excellent human health and function, relieve pain, increase strength, improve mobility and enhance quality of life; and

WHEREAS, physical therapy can be an effective treatment for a variety of conditions including spine disorders, strokes and other neurological problems, sports injuries, post-surgical orthopedic rehabilitation and arthritis; and

WHEREAS, by building muscle strength and flexibility in a safe and controlled manner, physical therapy increases coordination as well as balance, and can prevent strain or further injury; and

WHEREAS, physical therapy supports individuals who have medical conditions that compromise a person’s mobility and independence, and can prevent shin splints or fractured bones from occurring; and

WHEREAS, the month of October provides an opportunity to raise public awareness of the possible benefit physical therapy can offer;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of October 2019 as

PHYSICAL THERAPY MONTH IN NEVADA
