WHEREAS, the month of April has been designated as Landscape Architecture Month in Nevada to celebrate the contributions of landscape architects to our communities and offer appreciation for the artistic and scientific principles in the planning, designing, management, and stewardship of built environments; and

WHEREAS, there are more than 360 licensed landscape architects in Nevada and students across the Silver State are currently attending programs to become the next generation of and innovators in this field; and

WHEREAS, landscape architects, as licensed professionals, have a responsibility to protect public safety by applying land design skills, technical knowledge, and conservation techniques to ensure the safety of individuals and communities; and

WHEREAS, Nevadans across the state benefit from the licensed practice of landscape architecture, assuring the design of healthy, equitable, safe and resilient public and private outdoor spaces; and

WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture has made significant and lasting contributions to the Silver State for more than 40 years through the design of communities, parks, schools, playgrounds, trails, residential common areas and homes that provide a variety of outdoor experiences for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim April 2019 as
