Seal of the State of Nevada

WHEREAS, Nevadans have outstanding opportunities to experience safe and healthy fun in the Silver State’s great outdoors; and

WHEREAS, Great Outdoors Month is an opportunity to connect citizens of all ages to healthy and fun outdoor recreation including biking, swimming, hiking, boating, fishing, camping, and many other activities that help us enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of outdoor recreation; and

WHEREAS, outdoor recreation as the primary purpose of visitation to Nevada has increased by almost 2% annually, and yearly visitation to Nevada’s state parks and Great Basin National Park has increased by over 400,000 since 2007; and

WHEREAS, enjoyment of the great outdoors allows us to celebrate the commitment of our state to conserve and protect our air, water, wildlife and lands while contributing to conservation efforts through various licenses, taxes and fees; and

WHEREAS, Great Outdoors Month allows us to celebrate the partnership of federal, state and local agencies, recognize the recreation and tourism industries who make outdoor recreation opportunities available, and it is a chance for citizens and visitors to explore and enjoy the great State of Nevada;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim June 2019 as

GREAT OUTDOORS MONTH IN NEVADA
