Seal of the State of Nevada

WHEREAS, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a group of genetic disorders which affects connective tissues in the body including skin, joints, and blood vessel walls; and

WHEREAS, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is often characterized by overly flexible joints and fragile, hyper-elastic skin, unpredictable arterial and organ rupture, internal bleeding, and premature death; and

WHEREAS, according to the Mayo Clinic, there is currently no known cure for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, but treatment can help manage symptoms and prevent further complications; and

WHEREAS, Nevada recognizes the efforts of all organizations raising funds and promoting awareness of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, thereby improving the quality of life for those living with this group of disorders;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim May 2019 as

EHLERS-DANLOS SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH IN NEVADA
