WHEREAS, approximately 1 in 8 Americans live with a disability, and more than 363,000 adults and children are living with disabilities in Nevada; and

WHEREAS, people with disabilities are entitled to full inclusion in our communities, and all persons, regardless of their conditions or abilities, should have equal access and equal opportunity in the workplace; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada is committed to providing support and services to enhance the lives of people with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, activities and events are planned statewide in recognition of Disability Employment Awareness Month, including Nevada’s Job Shadow Day hosted by the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s Vocational Rehabilitation Division; and

WHEREAS, Disability Employment Awareness Month provides an opportunity to recognize the skills, abilities and contributions of people with disabilities in the workforce and to provide support and services to enhance their lives;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaimOctober 2019 as

DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH IN NEVADA
