Seal of the State of Nevada

WHEREAS, Nevada recognizes the importance of giving children permanent, safe and loving families through adoption; and

WHEREAS, families who have adopted children need and deserve community and public agency respect, support and encouragement; and

WHEREAS, 711 of Nevada’s children were adopted in 2018, according to the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services; and

WHEREAS, more than 100,000 children in the United States foster care system are waiting to be adopted; and

WHEREAS, more than 4,575 children in Nevada are waiting for permanent families; and

WHEREAS, this effort, along with similar work around the country, offer children the chance to live in stable and loving families while also encouraging dedicated individuals to make a difference in the life of a child through adoption;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim November 2019 as

ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH IN NEVADA
