WHEREAS, Paul T. Howell began his career with the Douglas County Sheriffs Office on December 27, 1987, as a Deputy Sheriff; and

WHEREAS, in 1988, Paul was awarded 'Top Cadet' in POST Academy for his efforts and dedication during training; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career, he has served in numerous areas within the agency including the Tri­-Net Narcotics Task Force, Investigations, the Patrol Division and as Jail Commander; and

WHEREAS, Paul T. Howell was a member of the Special Operations Response Team and served as a Peace Officer Rights Instructor with the Nevada POST Academy; and

WHEREAS, Paul was instrumental in developing and maintaining the Field Training Program, as well as
improving the morale and efficiency within the county jail; and

WHEREAS, Paul will be retiring from Douglas County as Undersheriff, a position he served in for more than 12 years, improving the office's ability to serve the citizens of the county; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada thanks Paul for his service to our country in the military and for his
service within the Douglas County Sheriffs Office and offers best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim March 8, 2019, as a day in honor of
