WHEREAS, James M. Wright has served with distinction and professional excellence for 39 years within various agencies including law enforcement, fire protection, emergency management, homeland security and emergency medical services; and

WHEREAS, James M. Wright had an illustrious career within the California Department of Forestry where he retired as the Deputy Director for Fire Protection in 2006; and

WHEREAS, in August 2006, he was appointed as Nevada State Fire Marshal where he was responsible for statewide operational and administrative oversight for three regional commands and more than 1,400 employees; and

WHEREAS, James was appointed as Deputy Director of the Department of Public Safety in July 2011 where he was responsible for administrative oversight of the Department; and

WHEREAS, while serving as Deputy Director, James M. Wright was also appointed Interim Chief of the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security; and

WHEREAS, James M. Wright was appointed Director of the Department of Public Safety on June 29, 2013 and will retire from the Department on January 25, 2019 with more than 12 years of exemplary service to the Silver State; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends James M. Wright on his outstanding tenure as a dedicated State employee with best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim January 25th as a day in honor of
