WHEREAS, Dennis Ely has served the State of Nevada with distinction and professional excellence for more than 29 years; and

WHEREAS, the Silver State thanks Dennis for his service in the United States Navy where he obtained the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class; and

WHEREAS, Dennis began his career with the State of Nevada on June 1, 1989, with the University of Nevada, Reno at Dodd/Beals Fire Training Academy as a Maintenance Technician and Fire Training Instructor in petrochemical fires; and

WHEREAS, in 1990 Dennis became a Firefighter/Operator with the Nevada Air National Guard and then transferred to the Department of Public Safety in 1993 as a Hazardous Materials Inspector within the State Fire Marshal Division; and

WHEREAS, in 1996 Dennis attended the Nevada Police Officer Standards Training Academy and began conducting fire investigations while serving in various roles such as Deputy Fire Marshal II, Deputy Fire Marshal III, and Department of Public Safety Officer II; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends Officer Ely for his years of service to the citizens and visitors of our great state and offers best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim February 20, 2019, as a day in honor of
