Governor Sisolak to deliver State of the State today

Governor Sisolak will deliver his first State of the State address today, January 16th, at 6:00 pm. The speech will be delivered in the Nevada State Assembly Chambers. In the address, Governor Sisolak will lay out the highlights of his Executive Budget and his vision for the state. A live stream of the addressed will be linked to at the governor’s website (gov.nv.gov).

The pre-program will begin at 5:30 pm. Details of the pre-show program are below:

Invocation:

Rev. C. Brent Hoy-Bianchi, Chaplain at Renown Medical Center
Brent, an ordained Lutheran minister, has served as a chaplain at Renown Medical since 2014. His prior work includes a chaplaincy at hospitals in both California and Arizona, as well as work in mental health in California.

Presentation of the Colors:

Nevada Army National Guard and Air National Guard Color Guard

Pledge of Allegiance:

Lieutenant Colonel Retired Gary Utterback, U.S. Army Special Forces
Gary, a resident of Fallon, earned his commission in the United States Army. He served on active duty from 1976 to 1997 as a Special Forces Officer for the 7th Special Forces Group. During Desert Storm he was assigned to a Navy SEAL unit where he was awarded a Bronze Star with a combat "V" distinction. Following his service, he continued served his state at both the Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation and at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Christina Bourne has been teaching music in Carson City since 2003. She was names Carson City School District’s Teacher of the Year in 2009 and the Carson City Rotary Teacher of the Year in 2010. Christina was also awarded the Light of Education Award in 2011.
