Governor Sisolak Orders Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of 22nd Annual Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony

CARSON CITY, NV - May 02, 2019

Today, by executive order, Governor Steve Sisolak ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Nevada to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and state public buildings and grounds until sunset today, Thursday, May 2, 2019, in honor of the 22nd annual Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony. The Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony, honoring Nevada peace officers who have been killed in the line of duty, will be held today at 1:00 PM on the Capitol Mall.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 2019-08

ORDERING FLAGS TO HALF STAFF

WHEREAS, the people of Nevada owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women who serve as law enforcement officers in our state and throughout the nation, who risk their lives for the continued peace, safety, and security of our society;

WHEREAS, the Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony, honoring Nevada peace officers who have been killed in the line of duty, will be held Thursday May 2, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Article 5 Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides: “The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada.”

NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, it is hereby ordered as follows:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and state public buildings and grounds beginning Thursday morning, May 02, 2019 until sunset.
