EXECUTIVE ORDER 2020-06

ORDERING FLAGS TO HALF STAFF

WHEREAS, Mr. Roy Horn was a renowned Nevadan and world-famous entertainer; and

WHEREAS, Roy Horn was born in Nordenham, Germany, where he developed his love for animals; and

WHEREAS, while in Germany, Roy Horn partnered with Mr. Siegfried Fischbacher to form the eponymous duo, Siegfried & Roy; and

WHEREAS, as part of their illusionist act, Roy Horn levitated tigers, made elephants disappear, turned himself into a python, and mesmerized-Las Vegas audiences for decades; and

WHEREAS, Roy Horn entertained over ten million fans, including royalty, and contributed greatly to the development of Las Vegas' global reputation as the entertainment capital of the world; and

WHEREAS, Roy Horn was an ardent champion of wildlife conservation and gave generously to protect endangered species; and

WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides: "The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada."

NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, it is hereby ordered that:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all state public buildings and grounds, from sunrise on Monday, May 18, 2020 until sunset on Monday, May 18, 2020, as a mark of respect and in remembrance of Mr. Roy Horn.
