EXECUTIVE ORDER 2019-17

ORDERING FLAGS TO HALF STAFF

IN HONOR OF THE NATIONAL FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS MEMORIAL SERVICE

WHEREAS, in accordance with Public Law 107-51, President Donald J. Trump issued a Proclamation on October 4, 2019 providing that the flag of the United States will be flown at half-staff at all Federal office buildings in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service on Sunday, October 6, 2019;

WHEREAS, firefighters courageously risk their lives each day to protect the lives and property of others;

WHEREAS, Nevadans express our gratitude to all firefighters and first responders who take such courageous actions and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our communities; and

WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides that, “The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada.”

NOW, THEREFORE,  by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, and pursuant to the Proclamation issued by President Donald J. Trump on October 4, 2019, it is hereby ordered as follows:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds from sunrise to sunset on October 6, 2019 in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.
