WHEREAS, business is prosperous and job opportunities are increasing in the State of Nevada and an available workforce is critical to ensuring the Silver State will continue to grow; and

WHEREAS, Workforce Development Month is an opportunity for the State of Nevada to recognize opportunities to bridge the gap for the state’s workforce and employers looking to hire, as we build the new Nevada economy; and

WHEREAS, apprenticeships, internships, and work-based learning are proven strategies to close the skills gap for workers, and these strategies can forge a pathway to a rewarding career; and

WHEREAS, the careers of tomorrow require a job-driven approach to ensure that skilled and qualified workers are in place, and work-based learning offers mentoring, workplace simulations, and on-the-job training that, when combined with classroom-based study, provide valuable social and academic benefits and real-world learning opportunities; and

WHEREAS, across the Silver State a network of community organizations, State agencies and resources are aligned with educators, employers, and economic developers to identify and implement collaborative solutions; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada is dedicated to expanding upon apprenticeship and work-based learning, encouraging diversified hiring, enhancing regional workforce development, and ensuring the Silver State is building the labor force that businesses need to make Nevada the best place to live and work in America;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  September 2018 as

 Workforce Development Month in Nevada
