WHEREAS, the great State of Nevada is proud to honor the 3,403,000 United States military members deployed to support one of the longest conflicts in which our country has ever been involved; and

WHEREAS, we recognize the veterans of our Armed Forces who served our country in Vietnam as well as the sacrifices made by their families; and

WHEREAS, our nation has learned much since its birth, and no lesson is as fundamental as the one learned after the Vietnam War, to support and respect our veterans and Armed Forces members; and

WHEREAS, we focus our thoughts and prayers on the families of more than 58,000 who served and never made it home, and pay tribute to the 149 Nevadans we lost in Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, there is a profound sense of humanity in war that can be ignored in the safety of our day-to-day life and may we use this day to recall what was given by the men and women who fought in Vietnam and acknowledge how their sacrifices have impacted, and will continue to impact, lives across America; and

WHEREAS, legislation was signed into law in 2017 declaring March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day; and

WHEREAS, we see Vietnam veterans in our daily lives, as parents, grandparents, friends and members of our communities and, today let us seek them out to express our deepest gratitude for what they surrendered for our freedom and that of South Vietnam;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  March 29, 2018 as

 VIETNAM WAR VETERANS DAY IN NEVADA
