WHEREAS, emergencies that require police, fire or emergency medical services can occur at any time; and

WHEREAS, when an emergency occurs, the prompt response of law enforcement, firefighters and paramedics is critical to the protection of life and preservation of property; and

WHEREAS, the safety of our officers, firefighters and medical personnel is dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained from citizens who telephone any Nevada emergency communications center; and

WHEREAS, public safety telecommunicators are the first and most critical contact our citizens have with emergency services; and

WHEREAS, public safety telecommunicators are a vital link for our law enforcement officers and firefighters who monitor their activities by radio, provide information and insure their safety; and

WHEREAS, in the Silver State, public safety telecommunicators have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires and treatment of patients; and

WHEREAS, each dispatcher has exhibited compassion, understanding, and professionalism during the performance of their job;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  April 8 - 14, 2018 as

 Public Safety Telecommunications Week in Nevada
