Proclamation Header

 

WHEREAS, Nevada was admitted to the Union on October 31, 1864; and

WHEREAS, Nevada played an important part in the closing of the Civil War that divided our country, from 1861 to 1864; and

WHEREAS, the 31st day of October of each year has, by custom and by law, been set aside as Nevada Day for the purpose of celebrating the anniversary of the admission of Nevada into the Union of States composing our nation; and

WHEREAS, it is most fitting and proper that such an anniversary be observed by the people of Nevada in remembrance of its historic admission into the Union that gave our beloved State its appellation, “The Battle Born State;” and

WHEREAS, the 80th Nevada Day Parade is dedicated to our states economic diversity, and this day is an opportunity to celebrate the wide array of industries in the Silver State;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  October 31, 2018 as

 Nevada Day
