WHEREAS, more than 15,000 of Nevada’s youth are dependents of National Guard, Reserve and active duty service members; and

WHEREAS, military children in the Silver State, and across the nation, make tremendous sacrifices as they are faced with deployments and long separations from parents and loved ones who have answered the call to serve; and

WHEREAS, Nevada strives to be the most military and veteran-friendly state in the nation through an unwavering commitment to those who have selflessly served; and

WHEREAS, one of the first measures signed during the 2017 session of the Nevada Legislature honors the service of our military members who lay down their lives while wearing our nation’s uniform, by ensuring all Gold Star families have access to the best education the Silver State has to offer; and

WHEREAS, April is a time to applaud the courage and resilience of Nevada’s military youth and recognize them for the sacrifice they make and the challenges they overcome, while supporting the military heroes of our state; and

WHEREAS, across the state, Nevadans have answered the call to serve and we commend our heroes in uniform while recognizing the sacrifice of their children and families;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  April 2018 as

 Month of the Military Child in Nevada
