WHEREAS, Law Day is a day for Americans to appreciate our laws and our Constitution, and since 1958 this occasion has been honored each year by a Presidential Proclamation, and 2018 marks the 60th anniversary of Law Day; and

WHEREAS, the theme for this year’s Law Day is ‘Separation of Powers,’ and our Founding Fathers created three separate branches of government — the Executive, the Legislative and the Judicial — with each branch serving as a check on the others, preventing any one branch from becoming too powerful and threatening our freedom; and

WHEREAS, the supremacy of law is essential to our existence as a safe, free and just nation so that through our laws we maintain our rights and liberties and provide for equality and justice for all; and

WHEREAS, Nevada recognizes law as a foundation of life in our state which has helped the Silver State grow and prosper and will guide Nevada’s future peace and prosperity; and

WHEREAS, our citizens seek justice and redress of grievances through the law which Nevada judges, court personnel and lawyers strive constantly to uphold;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  May 1, 2018 as

 Law Day in Nevada
