WHEREAS, Richard ‘Dick’ Trachok is an outstanding citizen of the State of Nevada who has shown an unwavering dedication to the community; and

WHEREAS, Dick Trachok selflessly served our country with the Army Air Corps during World War II; and

WHEREAS, following his military service, Dick moved to Reno to pursue his education and play college football at the University of Nevada from 1946 to 1948 and had the opportunity to play in the first Nevada football bowl game win at the Salad Bowl versus North Texas in 1947; and

WHEREAS, following his time playing for Nevada, he began his notable career as a football coach in Northern Nevada, first serving as Head Coach for the Reno High School Huskies and then moving on to the University of Nevada in 1959; and

WHEREAS, Coach Trachok served as Nevada Athletics Director from 1969 to 1986; and

WHEREAS, in honor of his years of dedication to the university, he was inducted into the University of Nevada Athletics Hall of Fame in 1975 and was only one of two all-purpose players selected to Nevada’s Team of the Century; and

WHEREAS, Dick Trachok began the tradition of the Governor’s Dinner 50 years ago to benefit the student athletes of the University of Nevada; and

WHEREAS, along with his wife, Fran, he was named a Distinguished Nevadan in 2013, and the couple was recognized for their significant achievements and contributions to the advancement of the Silver State; and

WHEREAS, Coach Trachok has remained committed to the University of Nevada, Reno for more than 70 years, and the State of Nevada thanks him for his dedication to the students, staff and the Nevada family;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  do hereby recognize

 Richard 'Dick" Trachok
