WHEREAS, Richard Benjamin Harrison honorably served in the United States Navy for 20 years, reaching the rank of Petty Officer First Class; and

WHEREAS, while serving in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Harrison was transferred to San Diego, California and, following his military service, he joined his wife, JoAnne, in the real estate business; and

WHEREAS, in 1981 the Harrison family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and opened the Gold & Silver Coin Shop which became the first shop of its kind to be open 24 hours a day on the Las Vegas Strip; and

WHEREAS, in 1988 the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop opened at its current location which is now known worldwide; and

WHEREAS, fondly known as ‘The Old Man’ on The History Channel’s ‘Pawn Stars’ Mr. Harrison, along with his son and grandson, share their knowledge, passion and love of their work with the world; and

WHEREAS, Richard Benjamin Harrison was born March 4, 1941 in Danville, Virginia; and

WHEREAS, in 1959, at the age of 17, he married his wife, JoAnne Rhue and they had four children, Sherry, Joseph, Rick and Chris; and

WHEREAS, Richard ‘The Old Man’ Harrison passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018, and he is survived by his wife of 58 years, JoAnne, three sons, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, the thoughts and prayers of the Nevada family are with Mr. Harrison’s family, friends and loved ones;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  do hereby honor
