WHEREAS, for more than 50 years, Community Health Centers have provided high-quality, affordable, comprehensive primary and preventative health care in our nation’s underserved communities, having a significant impact on America’s health care system; and

WHEREAS, Health Centers provide health care for 27 million Americans in more than 10,000 communities and one in every 12 people in the United States receive their care in a community health center; and

WHEREAS, Health Centers are an important element of the health system, serving both rural and urban populations, and often providing the only accessible source of primary care in the community; and

WHEREAS, these centers are developing new approaches to integrate a wide range of services beyond primary care to meet the needs and challenges of communities, including oral health, vision, behavioral health, and pharmacy services; and

WHEREAS, Health Centers are governed by patient-majority boards, ensuring the patients of each Health Center are engaged in their own health care decisions; and

WHEREAS, National Health Center Week provides the opportunity to recognize America’s Health Centers, dedicated staff, board members, and those responsible for their continued success as well as the role they play in communities nationwide;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  August 12-18, 2018 as

 Health Centers Week in Nevada
