WHEREAS, Alzheimer’s disease is an irreversible and progressive brain disease that slowly erodes precious memories, thinking skills, and the ability to perform simple tasks; and
WHEREAS, every 65 seconds, someone across the nation develops Alzheimer’s disease and an estimated 5.7 million Americans of all ages are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease according to the Alzheimer’s Association; and
WHEREAS, Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and an estimated 14 million Americans will be living with Alzheimer’s disease by 2050; and
WHEREAS, while there is treatment for this disease, there is no cure, and Alzheimer’s is usually detected at its end stages, which is not ideal for optimizing the effects of available treatments; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada offers its support to those living with Alzheimer’s disease, and recognizes those who care and provide for them, sharing their loved one’s emotional, physical and financial strains;
