WHEREAS, Alan Tinney has served the State of Nevada with distinction and professional excellence for nearly 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Alan began his career in state service in 1988 with the Department of Human Resources, Bureau of Health Protection Services where he was responsible for many areas that ranged from Public Drinking Water Systems, Public Health Engineering, Drinking Water State Revolving Loans, Radiological Health, Environmental Health Programs, where his work encompassed unique positions across the state, as well as, on the Nevada Test Site with its surrounding federal properties; and

WHEREAS, in 2002 while at the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Protection, Alan's knowledge and compassion for protecting waters of the state has served the agency as it has gone through numerous federal program changes, prompting Alan's transition to permit writing with the Bureau of Mining Regulation and Reclamation; and

WHEREAS, from 2003 through 2016 Alan's professionalism and hard work proved invaluable as both a Permitting Supervisor and Bureau Chief for the Division of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Water Pollution Control, ensuring the quality of Nevada's water resources and long term financial operations; and

WHEREAS, in September 2016, Alan became a critical leader in the development of the Nevada Department of Transportation's Stormwater Division as Chief, ensuring the Department's success as a model storm water program across the country; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends Alan Tinney on his outstanding tenure as a dedicated State employee and joins his family,friends and colleagues in extending sincere appreciation to him for his years of service, with best wishes for a happy and.fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  January 12, 2018 as a day in honor of
