WHEREAS, the City of Sparks welcomes the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home as a proud and valuable part of the community; and

WHEREAS, on May 14, 2018, Sparks Mayor Geno Martini, and members of the Sparks City Council, unanimously agreed to change the name of a portion of Kietzke Lane between Galletti Way and Victorian Avenue to Battle Born Way; and

WHEREAS, Battle Born Way is located in front of the new Northern Nevada State Veterans Home and will honor and pay tribute to the men and women who reside there; and

WHEREAS, the address number 36 was chosen for the home to represent and remember that the Silver State was the 36th state to join the union; and

WHEREAS, Nevada has a strong and proud military history, becoming a state in 1864 during the Civil War, thus becoming known as a state born in battle; and

WHEREAS, the new Northern Nevada State Veterans Home will be a vital community asset to the City of Sparks, utilized as a gathering place for Nevada’s veteran community and serving veterans, their spouses and Gold Star parents; and

WHEREAS, the Silver State is grateful to the City of Sparks for its commitment to honoring Nevada’s military members who have served our country;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  October 31, 2018 as a day to recognize the re-naming celebration for

 36 Battle Born Way
