WHEREAS, encouraging and supporting public health initiatives that seek to raise awareness regarding harmful disabilities, diseases, and disorders helps to promote safer, healthier, and stronger communities in Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder of the central nervous system that affects more than 1 million people across the United States, and approximately 60,000 new cases of Parkinson's disease are diagnosed each year; and
WHEREAS, researchers, care providers, and service organizations across the nation continue to work to find a cure for Parkinson's disease and develop improved methods for treatment and early detection of this disease; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada joins communities and states across the nation in recognizing the work of organizations who are dedicated to raising awareness about Parkinson's disease, with continued commitment to serving those who are living with this disease and to supporting ongoing efforts to find a cure;
