WHEREAS, Americans will observe Flag Day on June 14, 2 0 17, a traditional time to honor the nation's symbol of freedom and democracy; and

WHEREAS, the Pledge of Allegiance goes hand-in-hand with the celebration of the.flag of the United States of America, as it captures the character of the American people and the principles upon which our nation was founded; and

WHEREAS, Flag Day is a time to reflect on our freedoms and ensure the next generation understands the ideal.s embodied in the Pledge of Allegiance and the flag of the United States and share a love of liberty, responsible citizenship and understanding of democracy; and

WHEREAS, the American.flag represents the ideals upon which our nation was founded, and for more than 200 years has been a symbol of democracy, inspiring individuals around the world; and

WHEREAS, 'Old Glory' continues to unite Americans from across our nation and around the globe, standing as a beacon of America's promise of opportunity and equality; and

WHEREAS, throughout history the American.flag has endured, and the sacrifices made by our heroes in uniform are forever memorialized by the.flag which they carried into battle and which adorns the final resting place of so many who have selflessly served; and

WHEREAS, all Nevadans are encouraged to participate in Flag Day and to reflect upon the significance of our nations flag as a symbol of the freedoms we cherish, a reminder of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and as a continuing source of inspiration and hope f or a strong.future;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  June 14, 2017 as

 Flag Day in Nevada
