WHEREAS, the State of Nevada recognizes the benefit of support groups for children, teens and families who have experienced a traumatic event or illness; and
WHEREAS, group members provide emotional support, learn new ways to cope, discover strategies for improvement, and help others while helping themselves in a safe and confidential environment; and
WHEREAS, peer support groups empower participants, and peers act as role models by inspiring others through their progress and ability to grow f om adversity; and
WHEREAS, support groups are a safe place to share personal stories, issues, struggles, and thoughts and talking to others in peer support groups reduces anxiety, improves self-esteem and provides a sense of well-being; and
WHEREAS, organizations across the Silver State strive to provide peer support to children who have experienced a traumatic event or illness and we recognize the benefits of support to help children, teens and families adjust to changes in their lives;
