WHEREAS, the children of Nevada are our most valuable resources as they will shape the future of our great state; and
WHEREAS, child abuse is a serious problem affecting every segment of our community, and finding solutions requires discussion and action; and
WHEREAS, effective child abuse prevention activities are needed to ensure children live in safe, stable and nurturing environments since healthy child development is the foundation for community and economic development, the building blocks of a flourishing society and stable nation; and
WHEREAS, prevention activities succeed because of the meaningful relationships created between child welfare, education, health and community-based organizations, businesses, and law enforcement agencies; and
WHEREAS, our state must make every effort to promote programs and activities that benefit our children and families by working to increase awareness about child abuse and promote the social and emotional well-being of children and families; and
WHEREAS, prevention remains the best defense of our children and families, as studies have shown that child abuse and neglect have far-reaching consequences to victims,families, communities and the economy; and
WHEREAS, throughout the month of April, Nevadans from all across the Silver State will display pinwheels and plant pinwheel gardens as a symbolic expression of our state's collective commitment to protecting our children and providing them with safe, positive, and nurturing environments;
