Proclamation Header

 

WHEREAS, more than 500,000 families in the United States live with bladder cancer, and an estimated 79,000 people will be diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2017; and

WHEREAS, according to the American Cancer Society, bladder cancer accounts for about 5 percent of all new cancers and it is the fourth most common cancer in men, but it is less common in women; and

WHEREAS, bladder cancer has one of the highest costs of treatment of any type of cancer due to its aggressive and progressive cancer cells and tumors growth; and

WHEREAS, the month of May is an opportunity to increase education, raise public awareness and bring together families, patients and the medical community;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  May 2017 as

 Bladder Cancer Awareness Month in Nevada
