WHEREAS, Linda Akin has served the Silver State with distinction for 28 years, working for the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Welfare and Supportive Services; and

WHEREAS, Linda Akin began State service in March 1989 with the Department of Welfare and Supportive Services as an Eligibility Certification Specialist I at the Belrose District Office, then transferred to the newly opened Charleston District Office in December 1989, and upon successful completion of her probationary period became an Eligibility Certification Specialist II, now titled Family Services Specialist, and has dutifully, professionally and ethically performed her duties as an Eligibility Certification Specialist I and II, Family Services Specialist II, SPDC Trainer and Training Officer I; and

WHEREAS, Linda served as a model of positive change with her never-ending search for knowledge, high level of professionalism, and calm demeanor under the most stressful of situations; and

WHEREAS, Linda participated in a yearlong NOMADS testing project in January 1994 and performed the duties of writing original test guides, and performing test training, in addition to managing staff for this unit, and Linda also served as instructor for the Southern Professional Development Center FSS Academies and started with class 26, of which there are now 70; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends Linda Akin on her outstanding tenure as a dedicated State employee and joins her family, friends and colleagues in extending sincere appreciation for her years of service, with best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  March 10, 2017 as a day in honor of
