WHEREAS, Eric Vance Nelson, a third-generation Nevadan, served his country in the United States Army where he worked as the court reporter for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon; and

WHEREAS, for forty years he dedicated his career to court reporting, and provided this important service to the State of Nevada, where he served the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the Nevada Gaming Commission since 1974; and

WHEREAS, Eric Nelson was respected for his integrity and held in high esteem by all who had the good fortune to work with him, as he approached his profession with enthusiasm and good humor; and

WHEREAS, he had an astute sense of hearing and the ability to distinguish multiple voices, and he could transcribe public meetings with the endurance of a marathon runner; and

WHEREAS, Eric Nelson was a wonderful husband to Teri, loving father to Taylor and Matt, and adoring grandfather to Addilyn and Kaylee; and

WHEREAS, Eric Nelson was a part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America program and helped to guide his Little Brother on his path to success; and

WHEREAS, Eric Nelson lived a rich memorable life filled with passion, energy, and joy; and

WHEREAS, Eric Vance Nelson passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016, and the thoughts and prayers of the Nevada family are with his family, friends and loved ones;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  February 3, 2017 as a day in honor of
