WHEREAS, Dennis S. Osborn began his law enforcement career in March 1992 with the Carson City Sheriff's Office after completing his enlistment in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, Dennis S. Osborn joined the Nevada Highway Patrol in November 1992 as a Trooper in traffic operations in the Las Vegas, Indian Springs and Pahrump areas and he was active in Traffic Accident  Reconstruction and the Field Training Officer Program; and

WHEREAS, he was promoted to Sergeant in December 1999 and served as Tonopah District Sergeant, Personnel Sergeant at Carson City Headquarters and Administrative Sergeant in Northern Command Reno; and

WHEREAS, Sergeant Osborn was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in December 2005 serving as the Executive Officer to the Chief and he was then promoted to Captain at the Department of Public Safety, Parole and Probation Division in Reno and transferred from the Nevada Highway Patrol; and

WHEREAS, Captain Dennis S. Osborn was appointed Honor Guard Commander in July 2007; and

WHEREAS, he transferred from Parole and Probation Division to the Nevada Highway Patrol in March 2008 and served as the Carson City Headquarters Commander and was promoted to Major in August 2013 and was transferred to Las Vegas as the Southern Command Deputy Chief; and

WHEREAS, Major Osborn was appointed Colonel of the Nevada Highway Patrol in January 2014 and transferred to Carson City Headquarters as Chief; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends Colonel Dennis S. Osborn on his outstanding tenure as a dedicated State employee and joins his family,friends and colleagues in extending sincere appreciation for his years of service, with best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  July 4, 2017 as a day in honor of

 Dennis S. Osborn
