Proclamation Header


WHEREAS, Charles F. "Fred" Oehler has served the Silver State with distinction for 26 years, working for State Industrial Insurance Systems (SIIS) and the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS); and

WHEREAS, Charles F. Oehler began his state service at SIIS in Carson City in 1991 in the Quality Control Unit and joined DWSS in 1994, relocating to Las Vegas as an Eligibility Certification Specialist, now known as Family Services Specialist, and Fred worked at the Charleston, Desert Inn, Flamingo and Cambridge offices during this tenure; and

WHEREAS, Fred has continually displayed professionalism, ethically performed his duties, and worked with a strong team which benefited the citizens of Nevada; and

WHEREAS, Fred always respected his clients and went the extra mile to listen, provide resources, tools, and tips to assist Nevadans in need; and

WHEREAS, while Fred's day job was at DWSS, his after-hours duties consisted of running errands, a "parking lot" ministry where he assisted the mentally ill, veterans, and homeless with resources they needed, as well as providing assistance out of his own pocket for food and personal hygiene items; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends Fred on his outstanding tenure as a dedicated State employee and joins his family, friends and colleagues in extending sincere appreciation to him for his years of service, with best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  July 19, 2017 as a day in honor of
