WHEREAS, social work is an essential profession in the State of Nevada, benefitting all areas of society, and helping to ensure that basic needs are met, as well as promoting improved health and wellness, prosperity and happiness; and

WHEREAS, social workers help to strengthen our communities, collaborating with government agencies, schools, universities, social service organizations, the military, mental health and health care facilities, and other stakeholders to improve the quality of life for Nevada's citizens; and

WHEREAS, social workers embody this year's National Social Work Month theme, "Forging Solutions Out of Challenges," by helping individuals, communities and society-at-large to address and solve pressing issues; and

WHEREAS, on March 12, 2016, the Nevada Chapter of the National Association for Social Workers will recognize exceptional social work professionals with awards such as Social Worker of the Year, the Lifetime Achievement Award, Outstanding Contribution to Social Work, and others, in order to thank and acknowledge Nevada's social work professionals who continuously dedicate their time and expertise to serving those in need; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada extends sincere appreciation to the many dedicated social workers who touch the lives of countless Nevadans in need on a daily basis, and whose impact will be felt in homes, schools, workplaces, and communities across the state for generations to come;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  March, 2016 as

 SOCIAL WORKERS APPRECIATION MONTH IN NEVADA
