WHEREAS, the journey of the great State of Nevada is one that has been led by pioneers and explorers, from our earliest chapters as a state comprised of rugged wilderness to the present era of dynamic growth and expansion; and

WHEREAS, the historic profession of surveying has provided answers to questions of land boundary determination since the earliest days of civilization, from the "rope stretchers" of ancient Egypt, to the Roman Empire, and now in the modern era; and

WHEREAS, surveyors have helped to cultivate the infrastructures of cities and communities across our nation, determining the location and layout of roads, schools, hospitals, and other construction projects that have contributed to economic growth, job creation and a higher quality of life; and

WHEREAS, some of the most prominent members of America's founding generation were surveyors, who not only taught us the importance of charting a course for the expansion and development of our nation's territory, but also the importance of charting a course forward for the success of future generations of Americans; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends the many talented professionals who comprise the surveyor community, and whose expertise and commitment to excellence directly contribute to developing critical solutions that promote the public interest in Nevada and in states across the nation;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  April 16, 2016 as

 Professional Land Surveyors Day in Nevada
