WHEREAS, in 1994 President Bill Clinton signed into law the resolution unanimously adopted by the United States Congress establishing the fourth Sunday of July as Parents’ Day; and

WHEREAS, according to the Congressional Resolution, Parents' Day is established for "recognizing, uplifting, and supporting the role of parents in the rearing of children;" and

WHEREAS, Parents' Day affords an opportunity for communities, organizations, churches, mosques, synagogues and temples to honor fatherhood and motherhood and to encourage families everywhere to invest in our most precious resource - our children; and

WHEREAS, the most popular of these activities has been the recognition of outstanding couples as parental role models who have been honored as "Parents of the Yearn at the national, state, local and faith-community level; and

WHEREAS, the family is the fundamental building block of our community and we give our support to programs and activities that promote and protect the family as the foundation of our nation; and

WHEREAS, the International Peace Education Center in Las Vegas as well as organizations across the State of Nevada will celebrate Parents' Day and honor outstanding parents in the Silver State;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  July 24, 2016
