WHEREAS, our lives have been enriched by the parents, grand-parents, great grand-parents, and elderly neighbors, friends, and loved ones who have devoted their lives to working hard and endeavoring to improve the communities in which we live; and
WHEREAS, Nevada's elderly have earned our respect and gratitude, having courageously fought in the wars that have kept us free, taken risks and started businesses that have carried our economy, made discoveries that have enhanced our quality of life, and given of themselves to create a brighter future f or their children and future generations; and
WHEREAS, it is a solemn obligation to ensure that our elderly community is cared for and provided with the resources and assistance of which they may have need and which they rightfully deserve; and
WHEREAS, the concerns, insights, experiences and perspectives of Nevada's elderly citizens should be valued and should guide us as we continue their efforts to build a stronger and more prosperous state; and
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 28 was passed and signed into law during the 78th Legislative Session, and was the first piece of legislation introduced by the Nevada Silver Haired Legislative Forum, guaranteeing sufficient safeguards for vulnerable elderly persons with special needs or requiring long-term care; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada proudly honors our elderly citizens, and extends deepest gratitude and appreciation for their many contributions and for the special role they continue to play in our families and communities;
