WHEREAS, the State of Nevada supports efforts to expand awareness of safety , equipment and its proper use in order to promote the health and welfare of Nevada's workforce, families, as well as visitors to our great state; and
WHEREAS, an estimated 20 million American workers use respirators every day to protect against potential job hazards from doctors and nurses to firefighters, first-responders, coal miners, and agriculture workers; and
WHEREAS, many of these hard-working professionals depend on particulate, filtering face-piece respirators when working in environments with hazardous airborne particles; and
WHEREAS, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is the federal agency responsible for testing and approving personal protective equipment; and
WHEREAS, NOSH-approved N95 filtering face-piece respirators filter 95% of , particles and significantly reduce the wearer's risk of inhaling hazardous airborne particles , from dangerous chemicals, dust, metal fumes and many infectious diseases; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada is committed to the health and safety of individuals working in conditions with dangerous airborne particles and encourages proper use of N95 respirators to ensure effective emergency preparedness and safe working conditions;
