WHEREAS, the Silver State is home to 23 State Park across Nevada, each with a unique cultural heritage and natural beauty, and each telling an important part of the Nevada story; and

WHEREAS, May 21st, 2016 is the sixth Kids to Parks Day organized and launched by the National Park Trust, empowering kids and encouraging families across the nation to explore the outdoors and visit America's parks; and

WHEREAS, it is important to introduce a new generation to our nation's parks because of the decline in park attendance over the last decade, and we should encourage children to lead a more active lifestyle to combat the issues of childhood obesity, diabetes, and other serious health issues related to inactivity; and

WHEREAS, Kids to Parks Day is open to all children and adults across the country in order to encourage a large and diverse group of participants, and will broaden children's appreciation for nature and the outdoors; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada encourages all residents to participate in Kids to Parks Day, and to discover and celebrate the beauty of Nevada's outdoors by visiting one of our state or national parks and sharing that experience with a young person;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  May 21, 2016
