WHEREAS, the efficient and effective management of Nevada's precious water resources is an essential conservation priority for communities across the state; and

WHEREAS, household leaks account for more than 1 trillion gallons of water wasted across the United States each year-an amount equal to the annual household water use of more than 11 million homes; and

WHEREAS, many common household leaks, including loose fixture connections, leaking showerheads, and dripping faucets, can be easily found and fired; and

WHEREAS, fixing common household leaks can save Nevada’s homeowners an average of more than 10,000 gallons of water per year, which is the amount of water contained in a typical backyard swimming pool; and

WHEREAS, Nevada businesses, stakeholders, and public agencies are participants in the Water sense initiative, a voluntary partnership program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to protect the future of our nation's water supply by promoting water efficiency and conservation; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada encourages all residents to take steps to detect and fix common household leaks and promote efficient water use and conservation in order to help preserve an adequate water supply for present and future generations;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  March 14-20, 2016 as
