WHEREAS, Archaeo-Nevada Society was incorporated in 1966 as a local not-for-profit group of individuals interested in the history and prehistory of Nevada, and in the preservation of historic and prehistoric sites throughout Nevada and the Great Basin; and

WHEREAS, Archaeo-Nevada Society members have endeavored to preserve Nevada's antiquities, encourage the study of archaeology, and educate the public regarding the aims of archaeological research, supporting productive relationships with federal, state, and private archaeological entities within the State of Nevada; and

WHEREAS, Archaeo-Nevada Society and its members have played a key role in educating Nevadans about the importance of responsible site maintenance and stewardship, remaining a constant champion of archaeological efforts in the State of Nevada, including the establishment of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument; and

WHEREAS, Archaeo-Nevada Society is Nevada's oldest archaeological organization, celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada joins Archaeo-Nevada Society in celebrating $& successful years of advocacy and educational outreach, with appreciation for the role this organizations and its members have played in supporting the cultural vitality of the Silver State;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  May 21, 2016
