WHEREAS, emergency medical services are essential to Nevada's healthcare delivery system, and the dedicated medical professionals who provide these services are responsible for saving lives and meeting a critical public health needs; and

WHEREAS, the members of Nevada's emergency medical services teams are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in hospitals and clinics across the state; and

WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and

WHEREAS, the emergency medical services system consists of emergency physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, administrators and others whose expertise, commitment, and professional excellence are a great source of pride for the State of Nevada; and

WHEREAS, during the 78th Legislative Session, Assembly Bill 305 was approved by the Legislature and signed into law in order to expand emergency medical service delivery in Nevada, particularly in our state's rural areas where emergency medical service is especially critical; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada expresses gratitude and appreciation to emergency medical care providers and professionals for their role in promoting the health and welfare of our residents and visitors, and encourages all Nevadans to show support for the dedicated emergency medical professionals for their contributions to our communities;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  May 18-24, 2016 as
