WHEREAS, the State of Nevada seeks to become the most military-and-veteran- friendly state in the nation by ensuring that veterans and their families have access to the services, benefits, and resources that they need and deserve; and

WHEREAS, the Disabled American Veterans is an organization that was founded in 1920 in response to the needs of sick and injured veterans after World War I, and has since its founding, provided invaluable assistance and resources to those who have selflessly served our nation in uniform; and WHEREAS, the Disabled American Veterans is one of the world's largest service organizations, with more than 1.5 million members serving in more than 1,400 chapters nationwide; and

WHEREAS, the Nevada Department of the Disabled American Veterans was founded in 1972, and for more than forty years has served the disabled veterans of the Silver State with unyielding dedication and commitment to Nevada's heroes in uniform; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada extends deep thanks and gratitude to the Neva Department of the Disabled American Veterans for its continued work and advocacy on behalf of the state's wounded warriors and their families, with appreciation for its exemplary efforts to serve Nevada's veteran population; and

WHEREAS, the Silver State welcomes all who will participate in the annual Disabled American Veterans Convention hosted by the City of Las Vegas, with best wishes for a successful and productive conference;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  May 1-7 2016

 DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS WEEK IN NEVADA
