WHEREAS, the American Bald Eagle was designated as the National Emblem of the United States on June 20, 1782, by our nation's founders at the Second Continental Congress; and

WHEREAS, the American Bald Eagle is unique to North American, and is emblematic of timeless American values and attributes such as Freedom, Courage, Strength, Independence, Justice, Leadership, and Excellence; and

WHEREAS, the American Bald Eagle's image is used in the Great Seal of the United States and in the official seals of many branches of the U. S. Government, and has played a significant role in American art, music, literature, architecture, commerce, education, culture and on United States stamps, currency and coinage; and

WHEREAS, the American Bald Eagle’s image, meaning and symbolism has played a significant role in the belief, traditions, and heritage of Americans from all walks of life; and

WHEREAS, the American Bald Eagle was once endangered with possible extinction, and is making a gradual and encouraging comeback to America's skies, and the Department of Interior and US. Fish & Wildlife Service delisted the Bald Eagle from Endangered Species Act protection in 2007; and

WHEREAS, the recovery of the American Bald Eagle population was largely accomplished due to the vigilant efforts of numerous wildlife conservation agencies, corporations, organizations, and dedicated and patriotic citizens; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada hereby encourages Nevadans to show support for the majestic Bald Eagle's continued recovery, and the protection of its precious natural habitat, and to join in commemorating the proud symbolism of this national treasure;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  June 20, 2016
