WHEREAS, on February 5,2016, Maria Luisa "Marilou" Nieto will retire from the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services after 29 years of dedicated public service to the people of the State of Nevada; and

WHEREAS, Marilou Nieto began her state service with the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services in 1986 as an Administrative Assistant at the Belrose District Office, and was later promoted to the position of Family Services Specialist in 1987, ultimately assuming the leadership role of Family Services Supervisor; and

WHEREAS, Marilou has demonstrated dedication and commitment throughout her 29 years of service with the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services, and has supervised, trained and mentored hundreds of case managers, lead workers, and administrative assistants over the course of her esteemed career; and

WHEREAS, Marilou has worked under eight Division of Welfare and Supportive Services Administrators, and five Governors, including Governors Richard Bryan, Bob Miller, Kenny Guinn, Jim Gibbons, and Governor Brian Sandoval; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada joins Marilou's colleagues and friends in extending deepest thanks to her for her many years of honorable and dedicated public service, with best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  February 5, 2016 as a day in honor of

 Marilou Nieto
