WHEREAS, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) in 1937 to provide education, technical assistance, and research to courts across the United States, and has been affiliated with the University of Nevada, Reno campus since 1969; and

WHEREAS, the NCJFCI has recognized Man' Kay Bickett for achieving a record-setting year with 23 grant awards totaling more than $11.3 million in funding, and more than $14 million in economic support for Nevada's communities; and

WHEREAS, throughout her tenure, Man' Kay Bickett worked to enhance the local and national profile of NCJFCJ, and because of her leadership, the NCJFCJ, has strengthened its reputation as a national expert on juvenile and family law issues; and

WHEREAS, for the past 5 years, Man' Kay Bickett has led and advanced the organization's efforts in our nation's capital, directly supporting judicial experts and our nation's policymakers and professionals in the field on topics ranging from the role of the judge, domestic child sex trafficking, trauma informed courts, domestic violence, child maltreatment, and juvenile justice; and

WHEREAS, after more than 5 years of leadership, Man' Kay Bickett has retired from NCJFCJ, having made a profound difference through her service and commitment to juvenile justice; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends Mari Kay Bickett for her many years of dedicated service to Nevada's families, with deepest appreciation to her for her lasting contributions in support of enhancing the administration of justice in the Silver State; 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  September 16, 2016 as a day in honor of

 MARI KAY BICKETT
