WHEREAS, Leo M. Drozdoff, P.E., has served the State of Nevada from posts within the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for more than two decades since his date of hire in May 1991, and will now retired after an exemplary career in public service; and

WHEREAS, throughout his 25 years of service, Leo Drozdoff through the ranks to become the Director of the Department in May 2010, and was subsequently appointed a member of Governor Brian Sandoval's Cabinet in January 2011; and

WHEREAS, Leo Drozdoff has also served the State as a member of the Nevada Public Employees' Benefits Program since September 2008, most recently as Chairman since his appointment in March 2011; and

WHEREAS, Leo Drozdoff began his career at the Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) as an Environmental Engineer before his promotion to Chief of both the Bureau of Water Pollution Control and the Bureau of Mining Regulation & Reclamation; and

WHEREAS, in May 2003 Leo Drozdoff was named a Deputy Administrator of NDEP, thereafter being named Administrator of NDEP, apposition which he held for more than five years; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Leo Drozdoff has been willing to tackle tough issues on behalf of Nevada and its residents, successfully resolving matters that negatively impact the environment and public health, including issues related to air, water or waste, as well as issues related to drought management, energy development, the preservation of Lake Tahoe and protections for the Greater Sage-grouse; and

WHEREASthe State of Nevada joins Leo's family, friends, and colleagues in extending best wishes to him for a happy and fulfilling retirement, with deepest appreciation for his many years of dedicated service and exceptional commitment to protecting and preserving the natural heritage and environmental resources of the Silver State;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRIAN SANDOVAL, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim  August 22, 2016 as a day in honor of

 LEO DROZDOFF
